Hector Rail strengthens its position in Germany. Stig Kyster-Hansen appointed Managing Director of Hector Rail in Germany

Hector Rail strengthens its position in Germany and Central Europe, which sees the company as a strategic and important market with great potential and protracted growth opportunities for the Hector Rail Group.

"In order to achieve our goal of growth, we have decided to establish our company in Germany as an independent company under the leadership of a new management level. For this reason, I am pleased to inform you that Stig Kyster-Hansen will act as Managing Director for Hector Rail in Germany," says Joakim Landholm, CEO of the Group. "In his role, Stig will be a new and strong member of the Group's senior management team." Continue Joakim.

Stig - born in Denmark - has a strong and diversified background in the European ice rink industry and has held leading positions in the DB Group in Germany and Scandinavia. He also played a vitalising role in the launch of ERS Railways in the Netherlands and Germany. Stig is also a graduate of the Business School in Copenhagen.

In order to allow Hector Rail in Germany a well planned and controlled transition to an independent business unit and a controlled separation from Hector Rail Scandinavia, the appointment as Managing Director will take effect on January 1, 2018. Stig will support the Hector Rail Group full-time on a consulting basis. David Knowles is responsible for Scandinavia and Germany as Managing Director until January 1, 2018.

"I am very much looking forward to using my experience and knowledge in managing and implementing the proven strong business model of Hector Rail and GB Railfreight as a strong and innovative challenger in the German rail freight market for the benefit of German rail freight customers," commented Stig.
