John Smith, Managing Director of GB Railfright (GBRf), has been appointed as the new CEO of the parent company Hector Rail Group and will take up office on 8 January 2018. John Smith founded GB Railfright in 1999 and has been the Managing Director ever since. He has 33 years of experience in the railway industry including various management positions at British Rail and Anglia Railways. On 12 July, Hector Rail and mgw Service signed a five-year full-service supply contract. The two parties will work together to provide a comprehensive maintenance strategy for Hector Rail's growing modern fleet. Maintenance work is due to start in January 2018.
