Hector Rail invests in five new Siemens Vectron locomotives

Hector Rail has signed an agreement with Siemens for the delivery of five new locomotives of the type "Vectron". The locomotives are electric, designed for the Scandinavian market and equipped with the so-called "Extra Miles" function. This means that the locomotives have a diesel engine installed and they are equipped with radio remote control. This allows effective shunting into and out of the terminals without possibly having access to a separate shunting locomotive. Under the agreement, there is an option to purchase 15 more locomotives by 2021, equipped with new ETCS rail safety systems. Two locomotives have already been built and will be delivered in 2016. These two locomotives are equipped with the conventional safety system without extra miles function. The remaining locomotives will be delivered in 2017, and the agreement also offers the possibility to increase the fleet to 20 locomotives....

Hector Rail gets first German six-axle locomotive

Hector Rail has purchased ten used six-axle locomotives for the German market, plus five more as spare parts warehouses. Hector Rail has invested a lot in locomotive refurbishment and the first locomotive is now ready for the first implementation in new building conditions, or perhaps better than new. With this class of locomotives Hector Rail has a cost-efficient and powerful locomotive to make available to customers in the German market. Hector Rail innovates in everything we do. When the locomotives are refurbished, the tractive effort is increased and an air conditioning system is installed in the cab (not with the first locomotive, but the fleet is equipped with it). This is an important improvement to the locomotives with the expectations of locomotive drivers today. This year three locomotives will be delivered and all ten locomotives will be delivered before the end of 2017.

Hector Rail buys 10 six-axle locomotives

Hector Rail has purchased ten six-axle locomotives from DB Schenker (DB Class 151). The locomotives were built in the mid 70s. The delivery will be in 2016 and 2017, the locomotives are powerful but still much more cost-effective to buy than new locomotives. This makes these locomotives an attractive solution for heavy short-distance transports. A total of 15 such locomotives were purchased in order to ensure cost-efficient refurbishment and secure delivery of the respective spare parts in the future.
